Our French Immersion band will be performing at Paul Kane High School in St. Albert today and we would like to wish you the very best in your performance!  We are proud of you using your French language and musical abilities!


 Today is the last day of Term 1 for option classes. Students will learn next week which option class they are in for the coming term.


 Tomorrow, Friday, December 1, is a Professional Development day for all teachers.  Students, enjoy your day off and long weekend!
 The Christmas Elves competition has been extended from Mon. Dec. 4 to Mon. Dec. 11.  Get your goods in to win the cake and more importantly, the bragging rights!  What is the first thing that elves learn in school?  The elf-abet!
 Senior boys volleyball team, please return your jerseys to Mrs. Duru ASAP.
On that note, all volleyball team members need to return their jersey’s to their coach ASAP! Girls…… you too!!!!!

     A reminder to all band and choir members that our annual Christmas Concert     
      is next Thursday, December 7th at 7pm. Students are to be at the school by 
      6:30 dressed in black, white, red or green.

French Band practice at lunch recess today in the Band room Grade 8-9 boys basketball try-outs resume today at 3:10pm. Please let Mr. Mistol or Mr. Slade know if you are unable to attend. Library is closed at lunch recess today. Christmas Elves update! Mr. Eidick’s class is in the lead with Mr. Slade’s class pushing. There are rumours floating around that Mrs. Buzak’s class is mounting an offensive, so let’s get in the Christmas spirit and bring in some goods for those in need! How many elves does it take to change a light bulb? Ten! One to change the light bulb and nine to stand on each other's shoulders! Senior boys volleyball team, bring your lunch to the gym at 12:26 and be dressed to play a game against a few of your teachers! Students who did not sign up for Flex as you are working with the Yearbook, please meet Mrs. Tonita in the learning commons block 3. The Discover Scuba students are to meet Mrs. Baron in Room 104 for FLEX today. Please check your FLEX lists that are posted in your classrooms. If you have not signed up for Flex please do so right away. 

Students DO NOT need to sign up for Flex if your scuba diving. Also, if you are interested in being a part of the Yearbook Club, please do not sign up.  If you have met with Mrs. Tonita regarding yearbook, that is fine, and if you have not, please let her know you would like to be part of the club.
Grades 8 and 9 Boys basketball tryouts begin today at 3:10.Girls basketball tryouts will continue Tuesday at 3:10.
As Friday is a PD day, the Pride Alliance GSA will be meeting today during lunch in Ms. Gervais’ room (122)
The Christmas Elves competition continues and Mme Stewarts class continues to lead!  Let’s get it together and knock that class off as defending champions!  By the way, what kind of music do elves like best?  Wrap!
Tomorrow is Pizza Tuesday and what kind of person doesn’t like pizza?  A weirDOUGH!  Get it?  So come on out and get a slice or four!  If you plan on buying a whole pizza like JJ did last week, please let your teacher know when collecting orders.
Jazz band practice is tomorrow morning at 7:30. Choir will practice tomorrow at lunch.

Please listen to the following so you know when you are eligible to sign up: Order for sign up: Grade 9 block 1 or 2, Grade 7 block 3 or 4, grade 8 lunch time or later.

Has your homeroom teacher spoken to you about the 43rd Annual JE Lapointe Christmas Elves Competition?  No?  Well, each year homeroom classes compete to raise the most goods for Christmas Elves.  The class with the most points wins a DQ Ice Cream Cake and a high five from Mr. Mistol. As of today, Mr. Slade’s class is in second with 17 points.  Mme Stewart leads with 745 points!  Ms. Jenson has none.
We have never had a grade 7 class win this competition before...can your class be the first?

Students, if you see yellow caution tape in the hallways or anywhere else in the school, this is an indication that you are to stay out of that area due to construction.  Please respect this expectation for your safety as well as the safety of the workers.  Please walk around as necessary and be careful not to touch any of the equipment.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Grade 8 students: on Dec 13 we will attending the play A Christmas Carol at the Citadel. This is a wonderful grade 8 tradition! Permission forms are now on powerschool. Please remind your parents to fill them out.

Attention Health Champion students: Please go to Mme Walker’s class (room 125) at the first lunch bell. Bring your lunch. We will be planning our first school activity.

7AD boys PE will be at the arena today.  Please meet in the gym.  If you are not skating, you will need a clean pair of indoor shoes.

Congrats to the senior boys volleyball team on an amazing season!  They placed 4th in the league.
Congratulations to the Senior Ladies volleyball team for an incredible season that ended last night in a gold medal win and a district banner! Awesome season girls!!!

Library is closed at lunch.

Please find an appropriate place to go at lunch instead. Wandering the halls or moving from class to class is not a good option. Please either go have fun outside or find a classroom and stay there until the bell rings at 1:07.

The December Scuba diving FLEX session is now full. If you are interested in scuba diving for February or April, please get your form to Mrs. Baron.

The Pride Alliance GSA is postponed for today. We will meet again next Friday in Ms Gervais’ room (122) at lunch today.

This is a reminder that the choir will now be meeting Tuesday and Thursdays at lunch. The next practice will be tomorrow. The next three weeks of practice are prep for the Christmas concert, so please remember to attend!

Any Grade 8 students who are interested in taking Aqua Sports in term 2, please see Mrs. Duru at lunch recess.  For this class there are lessons (on various underwater sports) in December and February.  In January and March the swims are free swims.

Senior boys volleyball, there is no practice today due to parent teacher interviews.  Your last practice before playoffs is tomorrow at lunch.

Grade 8-9 girls are in the gym at lunch today.  If you are not a grade 8 or 9 girl and are caught sneaking in the gym, you shall receive a 2 week noon hour gym ban!

There are only 2 spots available for the Discover Scuba FLEX session on December 20th. If you are interested, please get your form and payment to Mrs. Baron ASAP!

We would like to thank all of our students who participated in our Remembrance Day Ceremony through your musical talents, poetry reading, dancing, and speaking.  Your contributions made our service meaningful in remembering all those who have offered their service for our country. Thank you also to our entire student population for your very respectful attention throughout the service. Finally, thank you for Mrs. Baron & Mr. Slade for coordinating this service as well as M. Morin for speaking, and all other teachers who assisted.

This is a reminder to all students that you are to go outside to enjoy some fresh air and a bit of exercise every day at noon. Please dress for the weather and then it is quite enjoyable to be outside. 

The exceptions to this are if you are scheduled to participate in the gym, you are going to the library, attending a club, or remaining in a class in which a teacher has said you may remain there.

There will be a senior boys volleyball practice after school today.

Operation Christmas Child - hands-on project that brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoeboxes .  We have been participating in this project for a number of years.  Last year, close to 700000 shoeboxes were donated by Canadians.  You can pick up a shoebox in Mr. Helgren’s office.
