A reminder that Pizza Tuesday has permanently been moved to Pizza Friday!

Attention Hoodie Cast and Crew.  To recognize your efforts these past few months and to celebrate a job well done, Miss Jensen and Mrs DeBoer are inviting you to a Hoodie Wrap Up Lunch on June 9th. Next thursday we will be having a potluck for any interested cast and crew members to join us in celebrating an awesome job of our first ever Drama Production at J.E. Please see Miss Jensen for more details.

Reminder to anyone who brought in Bake Sale items last week that Miss Jensen has a few lost containers in her classroom.  If you brought something and did not pick up your container, please see her by the end of the day. Thanks again to all students who helped bake and sell items over the last month.  We now have food to eat in Jasper!

Grade 7 & 8 band members are reminded to hand in their blue NATIONALS commitment interest letter to Mrs. Baron by June 15th.

A huge congratulations goes out to our Track and Field team.  They competed in the rain and wind at the LDAA finals yesterday and had numerous top 6 finishes.  Although the final results have not yet been sent out, we are confident that approximately 20-23 of our athletes have qualified for zones.  Please meet in the gym at l2:14 to grab a new permission slip if think you have qualified for Thursdays meet.

Pizza Tuesday has switched to Pizza Friday for the rest of the year, due to popular demand.  There will not be pizza tomorrow, but Friday will continue with more pizza and ice cream sandwich giveaways.

There will be a talent show practice in the gym today for dancers and singers. Please meet Mrs. Baron in the gym at 12:14 with your lunch.

PIZZA FRIDAY!!!!  Plus ice cream sandwich giveaways AND the Bake Sale for Jasper.  We will go back to pizza TUESDAY next week.

Thank you to all who auditioned for the talent show. It takes courage to do this, so thank you. Congratulations to the students who made it! There will be a brief meeting for everyone at 12:14 in the music room, followed by a practice for all vocalists.

Mrs. Baron would like to run the scuba diving option during FLEX in two weeks, but she needs a few more students. Those who were interested and took forms are reminded to please return them asap!

There are 5 more spots in the Drama make-up session taking place on June 15. If you are interested in signing up, please see Mrs. DeBoer

As all Fridays, today is Dress Down to Build Others Up for our staff.  For any staff who are dressing more casually than usual, or wearing Sabre clothing, the donation jar is in the main office.

Thank you to all of those grade nine students who sent Mr. Slade pictures.  He is still in need of about 100 of you!  Unless you want your school picture used in a special presentation, please send Mr. Slade your fave picture or two as soon as possible!

Bake Sale Day!! Come bring your dollars to the front foyer at lunch today to help support the grade 9 Jasper Trip. Grade 9 students who brought in items can bring them into Miss Jensen’s class for safe keeping until lunch.  Please make sure any containers are marked with your name so we know who to return it to.

Attention all students.  The grade 9 math classes are conducting various surveys for a project in Statistics and Probability.  We are asking that you check your student emails and complete any of the google forms that have been sent to you.  This should only take a couple minutes of your day and be easily completed at lunch or at home.  Our future data analysts appreciate you!

SWAT will meet today during lunch in rm 122.

Also a reminder that forms and payment must be in by the end of the day tomorrow or you will not be able to come on Monday.

VERY IMPORTANT TRACK ANNOUNCEMENT: We have posted a lits of names outside the gym of kids who have potentially qualified for the track meet next Monday.  If your name is on the list please come to the gym at 12:14 for a very important meeting. If you are on the list and don’t intend on competing please let Mr Mistol or Mrs Dorash know by lunch.

If you think you should be on the list and don’t see your name come to the meeting at lunch as well so we can make sure no one gets missed.

All students who signed up for the Drama make-up Flex session with Mrs. DeBoer today: please remember to go to the Drama room for all three periods.

Grade nine students!  Please listen!  Mr. Slade needs a pic of each of you ASAP!  Send him one or come to his  room for a picture or I will have to use your school picture!

The students that signed up for Making a Difference for FLEX today should meet Mrs. Baron in the band room at the start of period 3. She will be taking attendance there before you leave for your activity.

School Council meeting tonight at 7pm.

Thank you to all our actors and back stage help for a successful production of Hoodie! And thank you to our staff and students for your support and enthusiasm! We look forward to another production next year!

Attention grade 9 students!  Mr. Slade needs your cooperation in ensuring he has a photo of each and every one of you. It can be an individual picture or a group picture, but I need your pic!  If you have a good one on your phone, email it to me or come to room 109 at lunch.  PLEASE!

Talent show auditions continue this week. Dance is today and instrumental & comedy is tomorrow. Anyone auditioning is to come to the music room right at the 12:14 bell with your lunch.

Due to talent show auditions, there will not be any music room practices today. Jazz band is postponed until next week as well.

Grade 7 & 8 band students are reminded to let their parents know about an important meeting this Thursday at 7:30pm in the band room. This meeting is about the possibility of going to Nationals next year, so it is important that as many parents attend as possible.

Any band members that went to The Nationals in Ottawa are asked to email Mrs. Baron any good pics from the trip. They will be used for the slideshow and the year book.

Due to the long weekend, pizza Tuesday will be moved to Friday.

TRACK: 100m finals are today for all age categories - you need to come out even if you participated in the tryouts earlier.

FLEX - please make sure you have signed up by lunch time today for FLEX sessions tomorrow.

There will be a bake sale on Thursday this week to raise more money for the Grade 9 Jasper trip next month.  Everything will be sold for $1.00.  Reminder to 9D, 9E, and 9F that you are in charge of bringing items for sale.

Tomorrow is a professional development day for staff, and Monday is Victoria Day. Classes will resume next Tuesday. Students, enjoy your extra-long weekend.

Hoodie will be presented this evening at 7 p.m in the gym. Any and all students, parents, and families are welcome to join us tonight.  Reminder to all actors that you must be here by 6:30 to get dressed and ready to perform.

Welcome back and congratulations to the band students who returned from The Nationals in Ottawa on the weekend. They had a great time and a really great performance on Tuesday, receiving a Silver for performance and a Gold for the sight-reading/adjudication clinic.

The final results from the Science Olympics in March have finally come in.  The JE Lapointe Team won a silver and a bronze at the competition, narrowly missing out on another bronze!  Congratulations guys!  Medals should be arriving soon.

Reminder to gr. 7 and 8 home ec students. Please remember to get your sewing and textiles supplies.

We will switch modules in one week and so your supplies are required by Monday, May 30. Please see Mrs. Nessel if you need a new supply list.

Today is Dress Down to Build Others Up day for our staff, so if staff members are dressing down, we have the donation bucket for this in the main office.

Reminder that there is no FLEX sign up this week as next Wednesday is a day 5.

Today’s the day! Grade 9 Jasper Trip Bake Sale will be happening at lunch.  If you brought in items and need a place to store them, Miss Jensen’s room will be available for drop off until lunch.  You’re not yourself when you’re hungry, grab a cookie!

All chromebooks will be in use for the grade 9 PATs this morning.

We would like to thank all students for being so cooperative and quiet during the grade 9 PAT this past Tuesday.  We ask for the same this morning, as the French Language Arts PAT is being written all morning.  Again, please be quiet in the hallways all morning.

8D is to bring their supplies and go to rm 106 at the beginning of period 1 for their class today.

Tomorrow is the Grade 9 Bake Sale for the Jasper Trip.  Reminder to students in 9A, 9B, and 9C to bring in items.  Happy baking!

Reminder to gr. 8 and 9 students to bring in a container for Thursday for your cooking lab.

Thank you to everyone so far who has donated money to support those who have needed to flee Fort McMurray.  Anyone can continue to drop off their donations in the jar in the main office.  All money raised will be given to the Red Cross.

Students, please remember to record which sessions and rooms for each session you are attending for Flex today.  The sessions are not always in the same room each block, so it is important that you check and record this so you remember exactly where to go for each session. Homeroom teachers, please remind your students to do this this morning.

If you signed up for slo-pitch or track and field practice during flex, please meet in the gym for attendance before going outside.

There were several shoes pulled out of garbage cans yesterday.  Please do not throw other student’s belongings into the garbage.  Not only is this affecting the student who spends time looking for his/her belongings but there is also time and effort on the part of parents, teachers and office staff who also help locate these lost belongings, not to mention the expense of replacing items.

There will be a short meeting for any of the Grade 9 students going to Ottawa at the morning break today. Please come to the band room RIGHT AFTER period 2!

Mrs. Baron is also looking for some zipline and caving forms, so if you have yours, please bring it to her right now please.

Grade 9 Bake Sale for the Jasper Trip will be on Thursday this week.  Bring your loonies and toonies to help raise money for the camping trip. Reminder to students in 9A, 9B, and 9C to bring in items on Thursday.

There will not be any music room practices this week, as Mrs. Baron will be away with the band students.

Last call for anyone interested in auditioning for the talent show, as well as anyone interested in going scuba diving during June FLEX. Please see Mrs. Baron today if you are interested in either of these activities.

A jar is ready and available for any students and staff interested in donating to assist those people displaced as a result of the fire in Fort McMurray.  All are encouraged to donate even a little bit!!

Reminder to students signed up for tie dye during FLEX this week. You must bring in a clean white t-shirt or pillow case, preferrably cotton, to tie dye. Students that show up with out an item to dye will be assigned to another session.

Track: Boys high jump practice today, bring your lunch to the gym at 12:15. If you missed an event you only have until the end of the day today to touch base with Mrs Dorash or Mr Mistol to arrange a tryout.  Long Jump finals will be held Monday at lunch.

A reminder to the Ottawa band that there will be a must attend meeting today at 12:14 in the band room. Bring your lunch right after the bell, so the trip meeting can get started right away.

Anyone interested in auditioning for the talent show should see Mrs. Baron today. There is a good chance right now that it will be cancelled as there are only a few students signed up.

A reminder to get or return your scuba diving form from Mrs. Baron if you are interested in diving during the June 8th FLEX.

Grade 8 & 9 band members will be performing during the assembly TODAY and those travelling to Ottawa will be staying for one final practice after the assembly is over. Gr 8’s & 9’s will be called down to the gym to set up at the end of period 2.
