Today, anyone interested in Speech Arts, meet at noon in Mrs. Kay’s room, 104.  Please be prepared with questions and ideas for your selection.

The Discover Scuba students that signed up for diving on Dec. 16th are asked to come watch the instructional video this Thursday, Dec. 3rd. Bring your lunch to the band room at 12:14, so we can get the video started right away.

Wednesday, December 2nd is Early Dismissal… it is also HAT DAY! Students and staff are all invited to participate and wear their favorite hat or toque…

Attention students in 7A and 7C - today at noon you are to come to the home ec room to finish your social test.

Any senior or premier boys volleyball players that have not handed in their jerseys need to return them to Mr. Mistol asap.

The annual Christmas Elves competition is on now!  Homerooms will be competing for bragging rights, a DQ ice cream cake, and the joy of knocking off the defending champions in Mme Stewart’s room.  Ask your teacher for details.

The Senior boys basketball team has been posted on the Phys. Ed. Bulletin Board. First team meeting will be on Wednesday at lunch.

Pizza Tuesday is tomorrow!  We’re going to try and set a new J.E. Lapointe record by ordering 20 pizzas!  The current record is 16.  Be a part of history and order a slice or two or four.  Bigger slices, lower prices 4 life!

Congratulations to all of Mrs. DeBoer’s grade 8 Drama students for their excellent efforts in our first drama production presented during Flex yesterday.  Super job, everyone!
Our Book Fair is running this morning again as well as during noon hour and after school during Parent Teacher Interviews.  If you have not already done so, teachers are encouraged to bring your classes down to browse. There are great books and other items to purchase at a great price and this is a super way for our school to raise money to purchase more books as well!  Please take time to check it out!

Grade 7 French Band practice after school

Girls Basketball tryouts for grades 7-9 today at 12:14.  Please see Mrs. Dorash if you did not make the tryouts on Monday and still want to try out.

Mr Leeb’s Phys Ed class (8BC) Please meet in the gym before we leave to go skating.

Girls 9AE PE will be in the gym with the boys today.

Reminder - Fill out your FLEX goal sheet and bring you FLEX binder/duotang with you for block 3, 4 & 5. Be careful to check the location of each session for the block, as these locations sometimes change each block.  Be sure that you have written down exactly what you will be doing in each session.Teachers, please ensure that all students have completed their Flex forms before they leave for Flex this morning. SS is in rm 123 block 5 and be a maker is in rm 116 for 3 and 4

We would like to thank all of our grade 9 students for being wonderful audience members at the high school’s production of The Boy Friend.  Our students were attentive  throughout the show and were excellent ambassadors for our school.  Thank you!

8ADE PE, 8BC PE, and 7BF PE will not be at the arena today.  The boys and girls will be sharing the gym.  All other classes will be on the ice.

Flex updates for next week:
There will be 2 performances from our Drama 8 students.  Come watch them perform selections of the play "10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse."
Sewing kids can sign up to work on their sewing projects they have started with Mrs. Nessel.

Any band students wanting to play a solo, duet, trio or quartet at the Leduc Music Festival should look for FLEX blocks starting next week
Flex will be available for sign up at 3:45 today.  Please make sure you are entering the correct homeroom, first and last name when you register.

A huge congratulations goes out to the Senior Girls’ Volleyball team who played phenomenally last night and took home the bronze medal! They will finish off their season with a tournament this weekend at Wagner. Good luck, girls!

A note for choir members, there will not be a practice today as originally discussed. Mrs. Baron will meet with you next Tuesday on your regular choir day.
And a reminder to the Ottawa band trip students, your fundraising package is due by Monday. If you have yours today, please hand in.
Grade 9 teachers, please let the office know after announcements the exact number of students who have returned the signed permission form for the field trip today. As well, grade 9 students please eat your lunches during period 3 classes today as we will be boarding the buses at 11 a.m.   Teachers, thank you for allowing students to eat their lunches so that we can board the buses on time.
All of the students who signed up for Scuba Diving on Dec.16th are asked to meet with Mrs. Baron during the morning break today. If you think you signed up, but can’t remember, come to the meeting and Mrs. Baron will let you know.
Congrats to the Senior boys’ volleyball team who won first place in their league and brought home the banner last night.  It was an intense gold medal match that the senior boys’ destroyed due to the amazing team play and bromance on the court. Thanks to Mr. Bohun, Mrs. Duru, Mme Stewart, Mrs. Kay, Mr. Morin, and Mrs Kuppe for a great year!

The Classy Threads orders are in, so if you ordered a kit please come down to the home ec room at noon to get you kit. If you purchased a PJ pant kit you must take you fabric home and wash it before your next class.

The home ec room is open tonight after school for anyone that wants to sew or work on projects.

9AE does not have the ice today.  The boys and girls will share the gym.

Congratulations to the Jr Boys volleyball team on winning the gold medal in an exciting game against Leduc last night. Way to go boys! Please meet in the gym on Thursday at 12:34 to sign the banner, wear your jersey. Thank you Mrs. deBoer for coming out to our games as our teacher rep.

Important Flex information for today:  Students are reminded they must look at the sheets on their homeroom whiteboards and write down which sessions and rooms they are to go to for each block, as well as what you will be working on in each block,  in their duotangs.  Teachers, please be sure that each student does this before leaving for first period class. Students, you must take your completed duotang to every block during Flex.

Congratulation to the JR Girls for the great season. It was fun and we had a great time.

Anyone going to Beau Meadow with Mrs. Duru, make sure to bring your jacket and outdoor boots to Room 114 at break.

Thank you to all of the students who were a part of our Remembrance Day Service.  The Stewardship class that set up the chairs. The readers read clearly in both French and English and the choir sounded beautiful, as did the band.  The lyrical dance was moving and the readers’ theatre meaningful.  The cadet students performed their duties in a polished manner.We recognize the efforts of each of these students and thank them for their participation.  Thank you also to the entire student population for your respectful attention at this service.

Congratulations to the Senior Boys Volleyball team for clinching 1st place in the regular season. The boys look forward to playoffs on the 19th. Also boys, since you won your bet with Mrs. Duru, you can pick up your muffins in her room this morning.

The home ec room will NOT be open today after school for students that wanted to sew. The room will be open next week for grade 7 / 8 students to come in and finish their projects.

Ms Gervais’ grade 7 health classes… please bring your pencil crayons to class today.

Students, please remember that you are to take your outdoor footwear off at your entrance door from now on.  Teachers, we appreciate your assistance as you monitor the entrance door by your classroom while students enter the school in the morning and after the noon hour recess.  Thank you.

Reminder that all Jr. High boys will be going to the arena for PE today.  If you do not have skates, you will need a helmet from the equipment room and a clean pair of indoor shoes.  Please meet in Mr. Slades boot room before heading to the rink.

Enter the Name the mascot contest. Entries are submitted in the main office. Include your mascot name, your name and homeroom. Prizes for the winner. GO SABRES!!

With the damp weather that is now here, and with snow a sure arrival soon, students are reminded  to have an indoor pair of shoes.  Please take off your outdoor footwear at your entrance door. We take pride in our school facility and ask that everyone respect this expectation  and cooperate.  Thank you.

WEM Waterpark field trip forms were emailed home to parents last week and are due back no later than Friday, Nov 06.   Extra copies are available in the office. if you do not have yours.
