Open band practice - Thursday and Friday at lunch

All band members are reminded that September is almost over, so your September practice minutes are going to be due soon. Please be sure to fill in your time for each week, add it up at the bottom and get your parent to sign it.

Mrs. Baron’s Active Living option class is reminded to be in the music room by 10:05 this morning. There WILL NOT be an announcement to call you out of class, so it is up to you to remember this time and excuse yourself from your class. The bus will be leaving by 10:15, so if you forget, the bus will leave without you!


Congratulations to all of our runners who competed in the LDAA Cross Country Championships.  Each runner ran an excellent race!  

An important "Anti spam" letter will go home with some students today, please fill out and return to the office as soon as possible.

Good luck to our athletes who will be competing in the LDAA Cross Country Championships today in Leduc.  Teachers, please dismiss these students at 8:55 this morning.  Students, please meet in the front foyer with your lunches, water bottles and running gear.

Any students in Mrs. Baron’s active living class that have not handed in their scuba waiver forms, must do so RIGHT NOW please. Mrs. Baron has to call the scuba shop to give them the number of students going before noon today, so if you hand your waiver form in later today or tomorrow, you will miss out on this opportunity to dive.

Open band practice is today and tomorrow. Each grade has a separate practice area this year. Grade 8 students practice in the front classrooms by the main doors, Grade 7 students practice in the tech ed room and Grade 6 students practice in the music room and conference room.

Grade 6 band students going to Camp Evergreen must hand in their white Blackgold permission forms by tomorrow please. If you have lost your form or if you are not sure you handed yours in, please see Mrs. Baron before leaving school today.

Last call for anyone interested in signing up for jazz band and choir. Please sign up today if you are wanted to join one of these groups!

There will be a very short meeting today at 12:05 in the music room for anyone who signed up for jazz band. This meeting is to decide on a time for our practices that will start next Wednesday. If you don’t come to the meeting, you will not have a say in what time practice is, so please remember to show up.

Choir practices will begin next Tuesday at 12:05 in the music room. The choir will sing first, then eat, so please bring your lunch when you come for practice.

Last call for potential Science Olympians!  

Here’s a joke - Why can’t you trust atoms?  They make up everything!  Get it?  If you thought that was funny, like Mr. Slade, and you  are in grades 7 or 8, come to the meeting today at 12:30 in room 109.  It is your last chance to make the team!  By the way, did you know at a student from Calgary won the Google Science Fair yesterday and won a $25000 scholarship?  Did you know that she might have once participated in the Science Olympics?


Lego club will be held on Day 5, which is usually Friday, at lunch. We will begin Lego Club this Friday at 12:07, so see you then.

There are still quite a few Active Living students that have not handed in the paperwork or payment to go scuba diving on Friday.

There are a ton of missing permission forms for the Grade 6 band students going to Camp Evergreen. if you have lost your form, please see Mrs. Baron for a new one. If you have yours here, bring it to Mrs. Baron now. Students who don’t hand in their form by Friday will not be allowed to attend.

There will be another Science Olympics meeting today at 12:30 in Mr. Slade’s room.  If you are interested and did not come to the first meeting, don’t miss it!

A reminder that all Active Living students must return their Scuba diving waiver form by tomorrow’s class. If you have misplaced your booklet & form, please see Mrs. Baron for a copy of the waiver. You will not be able to dive on Friday if you do not return this form, so please be sure to take care of this by tomorrow.

Mrs. Baron would also like to remind any Grade 6, 7, or 8 students that choir sign up continues this week. Practice starts next Tuesday.

Any Grade 7 or 8 band students interested in signing up for jazz band should also sign up by the end of this week.


Open band practice is Thursday and Friday. Grade 8, Grade 7 and Grade 6 students will have separate practice rooms, so see Mrs. Baron for your practice spot. Students are encouraged to take advantage of this time as it is a great opportunity to get some practice minutes or ask for help.

There will be an information meeting for any grade 7 and 8 student interested in participating in the Science Olympics in room 109 at 12:30.

Anyone interested in joining the school choir is invited to sign up in the music room by the end of next week.

Any band members in Grade 7 or 8 that would like to join the jazz band are welcome to sign up as well. See Mrs. Baron by the end of next week if you are interested.


Mrs. Baron needs to see all of her Active Living Option students briefly at the break. She has an important info. note you need for the scuba diving trip. If any students were absent yesterday, or forgot to take their booklet, please ask for that at the same time too.

Permission forms for the Cross-Country Race are due today.  Please bring your form to Mme McCallion in room 113.


There will not be a cross-country practice tomorrow after school.  We will be running the Terry Fox run at 11:10 tomorrow morning.

Just a reminder that the final premier girls tryouts are today after school. Team roster will be posted tomorrow morning. District tryouts also continue today and next week.

Do you LOVE science?  Do you like the Olympics?  If you answered yes to both questions, you might like the Science Olympics.   It is a full day event on Saturday, February 28 in which students from various schools compete in science related challenges.
If this sounds interesting to you and you are in grades 7 or 8, come to an information meeting on Wednesday at 12:30 in Mr. Slade’s room.

  • All students who have signed up for Cross Country, please come to Room 113 after the announcements for your permission form for the race September 25th.  There will be a x-country practice tomorrow after school.



  • Any Grade 6 band students that are going to Camp Evergreen must go to the band room today at first recess for a very important note and meeting.



  • Mrs. Baron would like to invite any Grade 6, 7 or 8 students to sign up to join the school choir. Practices will be Tuesdays at lunch starting in October. Anyone who is interested should sign up in the music room.



  • The jazz band practice time is changed this year to Wednesday mornings at 7:30am. Any grade 7 or 8 band student is welcome to sign up. If there is enough interest, practices will start in October.



  • Premier Boys Volleyball, the final team roster has been posted outside the gym. There will be a team meeting today at 12:05 in room 116.



  • Premier girls and district girls tryouts continue today afterschool… thanks!


  • Terry Fox run/walk on Thursday. Students are asked to bring a toonie donation.
