Wednesday, June 27, 2012 - Day 2

  • Grade 7/8 Math Exam today

  • Elementary report cards will go home this afternoon with students. Junior high report cards can be picked up on Friday, June 29 from 11:00-12:00.

  • Grade 8 students who are remaining for study hall this afternoon must report to Miss Haylet’s room in the library at 1:00.  Grade 7’s report to Mlle. Hennig’s room (102).

  • Thanks to all the students who have taken their instruments home already. Sadly, there are still 4 waiting to get picked up. The two that don’t have a name on them are tenor saxophones though, so if you have not taken yours home, come and get it NOW please!!

  • Awards night is Thursday, June 28 at 7:00 pm. Teachers will contact the parents of the recipients.

  • Lost and found items. Please check the boot rooms. Any lost items will be bagged and donated.

  • Have a safe and relaxing summer!

Tuesday, June 26, 2012 - Day 1

  • Grade 7/8 Science Exam

  • Yes, it’s hard to believe, but there are STILL a number of instruments in the music room waiting to be picked up. If you rented an instrument this year, you MUST take it home, even if you are not taking band next year.

    There are 4 tenor saxophones, 3 trombones, 2 alto saxophones, 2 flutes, 1 clarinet and 3 bass guitars. If you played any of these instruments and have not taken yours home, please come and get it TO-DAY!!

  • Tomorrow is the Grade 7/8 Math exam.

  • Tomorrow's field trips - Grade 5 Bowl/Swim, Grade 6 Millenium Place

  • Reminder - Elementary report cards go home with students Wednesday, June 27 & Jr. High report cards will be available for pick up on Friday, June 29 from 11:00-12:00. If your child is not going to be present please provide the office with a self addressed stamped envelope.

Monday, June 25, 2012 - Day 5

  • Grade 7/8 Social Studies Exam today. 7/8 Science exam Tuesday. 7/8 Math exam Wednesday.

  • Grade 8 students who are remaining for study hall this afternoon must report to Miss Stewart’s room at 1:00.  Grade 7 students will report to Mme Morin-Scott’s room (104).

  • Home ec and Soapstone students, please pick up your projects.

  • There are still 24 instruments left in the band room: 5 tenor saxophones, 3 trombones, 2 alto saxophones, 3 flutes, 3 clarinets, 6 bass guitars. Please take home today as they cannot stay at the school over the summer.

Friday, June 22, 2012 - Day 4

  • Attention Band students! There are still about 35 instruments left in the band room that need to be taken home. It has been announced all week that band members are to take their instruments and black folders home, so please do so today. If you are in junior high, please come take your instrument after your exam. If you are in elementary, please come take your instrument at the end of the day.

    The school DOES NOT return instruments to the music company. Please make arrangements with your parents to have it picked up if you can’t take it on the bus and if you haven’t done so already, please return your ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS book to Mrs. Baron TODAY as well.

  • Grade 6 to Reynold’s museum in Wetaskiwin

  • Grade 8 students who are staying for study hall today will report to Mr. Slade’s room at 1:00.  Grade 7 students will report to Mrs. Dorash’s room.

  • All Home Ec. Art and Soapstone students please pick up your projects. All projects that are not picked up will be recycled after finals.

  • Art 7 students – late assignments will be accepted until Monday

  • Grade 7/8 ELA exam today, Social Studies on Monday

  • Attention Band students! You are reminded of a couple things in this final week of school;
    -          Please return your ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS book to Mrs. Baron by tomorrow if you haven’t done so already
    -          Please also take your instrument and black folder home by Friday as well. This means that all instruments and black folders should be cleared out of the band room by this Friday, June 22nd. 

    Please note that the school DOES NOT return instruments to the music company. Please make arrangements with your parents to have it picked up if you can’t take it on the bus.

    If you rented an instrument that belongs to the school, please leave it in the band room.

  • Hot lunch today is hot dogs.

  • Grade 7/8 FLA Exam today.

  • Grade 6 Science PAT Exam today.

  • Band students are reminded to take their instruments home once they are done performing their composition. This means that all instruments should be taken home by this Friday, June 22nd.

  • Write-On stationary orders will be sorted and distributed on Thursday.

  • All elementary track students who participated in the Track Meet on June 5th, the results are in!  Please come to the gym during the first recess.  Also, students that participated in the high jump competition, please also meet in the gym during the first recess.

  • Grade 6 Math PAT today.

  • Home Ec room will be open tonight and tomorrow until 4:30. Tomorrow is the LAST night the room will be open to finish your projects.

  • A reminder that all library books are due back in at the library immediately.  If you cannot find a book please see Mrs. Forest regarding payment of the book.

Thursday, June 14, 2012 - Day 3

  • Grade 6 PAT exam today.

  • Booster Juice today.

  • The grade 6 students are holding a freezie sale tomorrow at noon to support Scarlett and Logan Aspholm who have been diagnosed with a terminal disorder known as MLD. Small freezies will be sold for 50 cents each or 3 for $1.00. We would like to thank Sobey’s for donating the freezies for this event.

  • Congratulations to the band and choir memebers who performed at the concert last night.

  • Thank you to everyone who purchased raffle tickets to win the iPad. Just over $700.00 was raised for the Thaddeus Lake Music Foundation.

Wednesday, June 13, 2012 - Day 2

  • The final results for the LDAA Track and Field competition have finally been completed.  Congratulations to two of our students for winning their respective aggregates.

  • ATTENTION BAND AND CHOIR MEMBERS: The choir and band concert is tonight at 7 pm in the gym! Anyone in grade 6 band, grade 7/8 band, jazz band or choir is asked to wear blue jeans and a colourful top and to be here by 6:30pm. The doors for parents, friends and family also open at 6:30pm.

    An IPAD has been donated to raffle off at the concert tonight, so if anyone would like to buy a ticket to win, they are 1 ticket for $2 or 3 tickets for $5. All proceeds will be going to the Thaddeus Lake Music Foundation.

  • Mrs. Baron would like to meet with ALL THE CHOIR MEMBERS this morning at first recess for a quick meeting. Please come to the music room at 10:30.

  • The jazz band is asked to come for a short practice at lunch today. Come to the music room at 12:20 for a quick run of all our concert songs.

  • Students are reminded to use the crosswalk at the front of the school, do not cross at the ball diamonds.

  • Remember if you are riding your bike to school, please wear your helmet.

  • Outdoor ed. is going biking tomorrow, please bring your bike and helmet.

  • Tomorrow is Booster Juice.

Tuesday, June 12, 2012 - Day 1

  • ATTENTION BAND AND CHOIR MEMBERS: The choir and band concert is tomorrow night at 7 pm in the gym! The grade 6 band, grade 7/8 band, jazz band and choir will be performing. Concert dress for this performance is blue jeans and a colourful top. Students are to be here by 6:30pm. The doors also open for parents at 6:30pm.

  • There will be a jazz band practice today at 12:20.

  • ATTENTION BAND MEMBERS AND TEACHERS:
    There are 2 combined practices for band students today in preparation for the concert tomorrow night.

    Period 2 is a combined grade 6 band practice in the music room.
    Period 6 is combined grade 7/8 band practice in the music room.
  • The Home ec room will be open after school today for those students that want to work on their projects.
  • Dress Code - reminder that clothing such as halter tops, short shorts, shirts exposing the midriff and/or undergarments are not suitable for the school environment.
  • Due to construction on Coloniale Way, traffic in front of JE is higher than normal, students please be cautious walking in and around the school grounds.
  • Junior High boys Fear Factor group will meet today at 12:20 and every Tuesday until the end of the school year.
  • Grade 6 Social Studies PAT exam is Thursday, June 14

  • Grade 6 English Language Arts PAT exam is Friday, June 15

  • The choir and band concert is this Wednesday at 7 pm in the gym! Anyone in grade 6 band, grade 7/8 band, jazz band or choir is asked to mark it in their agenda. Concert dress for this concert is blue jeans and a colourful top. Students are to be here by 6:30pm. The doors also open at 6:30pm.

  • There will be a jazz band practice today at 12:20.

  • The Home Ec room will be open tonight until 4:30pm for all students that want to finish their projects.

  • A camera and a baseball glove have been turned into the office, please come and claim.

  • Write on stationary orders are due to arrive next week.

Thursday, June 7, 2012 - Day 4

  • All grade 6, 7 and 8 band members are reminded to hand in their May Theory and practice by today.

  • The year end band and choir concert is coming up on Wednesday, June 13th. The school choir as well as our school bands; grade, 6, 7/8 and jazz, will be playing. All members are asked to be here for this important final concert of the year!

  • The choir practice that was announced to be at 12 noon today will be at 10:30 this morning instead. This means that all choir members are to be in the music room at the morning recess break. This is in preparation for our year end concert next week!

  • Congratulations to all talent show performers for their awesome performances yesterday afternoon. Thanks also to the MC’s, the numerous students that helped with set-up and take down, as well as Mr. Slade for his technological genius in working the music tracks on his IPAD. Great job done by all!!

  • Farmer’s day tomorrow, no school.

Wednesday, June 6, 2012 - Day 3

  • All grade 6, 7 and 8 band members are reminded to hand in their May Theory and practice by tomorrow, June 7th.

  • Choir members are reminded of their important, but brief choir practice tomorrow at 12 noon. This is to review our songs for the year end concert on June 13th.

  • The year end band and choir concert is coming up on Wednesday, June 13th. The school choir as well as our school bands; grade, 6, 7/8 and jazz, will be playing. All members are asked to be here for this important final concert of the year!

  • The band students that are performing at the Senior Centre this morning are asked to meet Mrs. Baron at the front doors of the school by 10:10 am. Please make sure you have your instruments and music and are ready to walk! Teachers are asked to release you from class by 10 am so that you can get ready to go.

  • The talent show is this afternoon! Performers that are singing or dancing to recorded music should be in the gym by 12 noon. All other acts are invited to the gym by 12:30.

    Teachers are asked to bring their classes to the gym for a 1 pm start time. Elementary teachers, please start bringing your students to the gym by 12:50. Junior high teachers, please ask your homerooms to come in quickly from recess, and then bring to the gym right away, so we can get started on time. 

    I would also like to remind everyone to be respectful of the talent show performers. It takes a lot of courage to get up and perform in front of the entire school, so only positive feedback will be welcome please.

  • Congratulations to all elementary track students who competed in the District Track Meet yesterday.  Well done!  Once the results are in, we’ll let you know.

  • Congratulations to all of the junior high track athletes that competed in St. Albert yesterday.

  • Reminder that today is early dismissal.

  • Hot lunch tomorrow is Boston Pizza.

        • The talent show is coming up this Wednesday afternoon. The students that are performing are asked to see Mrs. Baron for a quick meeting this morning at the 10:30 recess.
