Monday, April 30, 2012 - Day 3

  • A huge congratulations goes out to the Badminton team for winning both the Jr. and Int. banners at the LDAA finals this past Saturday.   The Jr. team won 3 gold and 2 silver medals, while the Int. team won 3 gold and 2 bronze medals.  Mr. Mistol and Ms. Stewart would like to thank all team members for their hard work and dedication this season!
    Also – Please bring your shirts on Tuesday for a team picture.

  • Band members going to OTTAWA are reminded of their lunch hour practices this week on Tuesday and Thursday at lunch. Practice will begin at 12:20, so please make sure you have eaten your lunch and set up your instrument by then. 

  • All band members in grade 6, 7, & 8  are reminded to hand in their April theory and practice completed and signed as they are both due today.

  • Congratulations to the students who performed at the Sweet Night of Music last Friday night. It was a great concert and you helped raise $950.00 for the junior high band trip.

  • The talent show is going to be happening during the afternoon of June 6th this year. Anyone interested in auditioning for the show is asked to see Mrs. Baron to sign up. Auditions are going to be taking place May 22, 23 & 24 during the lunch hour, so start planning your act today!

  • Today kicks off la semaine de la Francophonie. Each day we will be asking a question related to “la Francophonie”, just like we did for the Geography Challenge.  Let’s see if you can answer the first question.  The answer will be given tomorrow during announcements.  Quelles sont les trois villes en Alberta qui sont officiellement bilingues?  What three municipalities in Alberta are officially bilingual?

  • A reminder that Science Fair will take place this Thursday afternoon.

Friday, April 27, 2012 - Day 2

  • All band members in grade 6, 7, & 8  are reminded to please get their April theory and practice completed and signed as they are both due on Monday

  • Band members going to OTTAWA are reminded of their lunch hour practice TODAY, as well as next Tuesday and Thursday at lunch. Practice will begin at 12:20, so please make sure you have eaten your lunch and set up your instrument by then.   
  • The talent show is going to be happening during the afternoon of June 6th this year. Anyone interested in auditioning for the show is asked to see Mrs. Baron to sign up. Auditions are going to be taking place May 22, 23 & 24 during the lunch hour, so start planning your act today!
  •  The band students who are helping set up for the SWEET NIGHT OF MUSIC concert happening tonight are asked to meet Mrs. Baron in the music room right after school.

  • Anyone who would like to come to the Sweet Night of Music concert is invited! Admission is $5 which will include great performances by our very own band members, as well as delicious desserts and drinks.

    • The Home Ec room is now closed for students to come in and finish Module 3 projects. Students who need to open their tie dyed onsies can come in at noon today . Thanks to all who did come.
    •  Girls 7C and 7D PE. Please meet in room 103 for period 2 today.
      • Good luck to all badminton players this Saturday!  A reminder that you must be in Wetaskiwin for 9:30am.
      •  Today is Milk “Friday”  Milk Monday from this week was changed to today.

      Thursday, April 26, 2012 - Day 1

      • The final badminton practice of the year is today after school.

      • Tomorrow will be the final day that Mr. Mistol will accept floor hockey registrations for the tournament on May 11th. 

      • All band members are reminded to please get their April theory and practice completed and signed as they are both due on Monday.

      • Band members going to OTTAWA are reminded of their lunch hour practice tomorrow, as well as next Tuesday and Thursday at lunch. Practice will begin at 12:20, so please make sure you have eaten your lunch and set up your instrument by then. 

      • The jazz band, along with anyone performing at the SWEET NIGHT OF MUSIC tomorrow night is asked to see Mrs. Baron very briefly at the 10:30 recess break TODAY. She would like to get a final confirmation of who is going to be playing.

      • The forecast for the next days is cool and rainy, please come to school dressed accordingly.

      • Due to the overwhelming response today will be the last day donations will be accepted for the Ghana Project Abroad charity.  If you have other donations that you have not yet brought in we recommend that you find a worthy local charity to support.  Brianna wanted to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone that donated.  She was very impressed with the great response!  We will be taking a group picture in rm 103 on Thursday at 12:30 of all of the students who were able to donate.  Please attend.

      • All badminton team players are encouraged to come out and play tonight from 6:30-8pm during the open house.

      • There will be a lunchtime meeting at noon for ALL band members going to Ottawa. Please come to the music room at 12 noon and bring your lunch!!

      • Parent/Student orientation Open House tonight from 6:30-8:00 pm.

      • Found - Bicycle helmet and headphones, please come to the office to claim.

      • A reminder for all Elementary students to get their floor hockey permission slips and money to Mr. Mistol ASAP.   Also, to clarify….there will NOT be any try-outs.  If you bring in your form, you will be put on a team.

      • Congratulations to all of the badminton players that competed in the LDAA North playdowns this past Saturday.  J.E. Lapointe did extremely well as everyone in the Jr. and Int. categories finished 1st or 2nd and will be moving on to the association finals this Saturday in Wetaskiwin.
      • Attention all elementary boys and girls!!!  If you are interested in playing in this year’s floor hockey tournament, there is a very important meeting/sign up in the gym today at noon.
      • The Home Ec. room will be open after school this week for sewing and just a reminder that this will be the last week.

      •  Science Fair meeting today at noon in Room 113.  Please meet for a short meeting.
      • Donations for Projects Abroad will be accepted until Friday, April 27th. Items such as: dice, glitter, pencils, pencil crayons, erasers, rulers, paintbrushes, colored paper, storybooks and sports equipment(cleats, soccer balls, jerseys).
      • Outdoor Ed. cookout is today during periods 4 & 5.

      • There will be a badminton practice for all tournament players after school today.   As well, good luck to all team members competing at the North division playdowns this Saturday.

      • Chess class will be after school today.

      • There will be no guitar club today after school.

      • A reminder that any band students interested in buying a MUSICFEST hoodie or t-shirt must bring the money and order forms by Monday.

      • Band students are reminded to complete their April theory and be practicing as these are both due at the end of the month.

      • Please submit Write On stationary orders to the office.

      • Junior High Girls high jump practice today at noon is cancelled. We will practice on Thursday instead.  Bring your lunch and change of clothes. 

      • There will be an optional badminton practice for all tournament players today at noon.  Also, shirts are available for purchase for all team players. 

      • Write-On stationary orders are due tomorrow.

      • Lego club is cancelled today at noon.

      • Registration packages for the upcoming school year will be going home with students in the next few days. Please complete and return by Tuesday, April 24th.

      Tuesday, April 17, 2012 - Day 5

      • Anyone interested in running the Ring Road, please meet in the front foyer today after school.

      • There will be a badminton practice for all tournament players today after school.

      • All elementary students who are interested in participating in the Blackgold District Track  Meet, please sign up in Mme McCallion’s room(Room 113) and come in for a short meeting during the first recess.

      • New schedule posted for study buddies. Please check to see when you are needed.

      • The home ec room will be closed afterschool today. It will re-open tomorrow for all students that want to come in and complete projects.

      • Any junior high girls interested in high jump, there will be a practice tomorrow at noon.  Bring your lunch to the gym so you can eat between jumps.

      • Stationary orders are due Thursday, April 19.

      • The home ec room will be open every day after school. Please make arrangements to come and finish your module 3 projects.

      • Congratulations to the Sabres badminton team.  Over the weekend they won the “Bison Cup” in Ardrossan as the top overall team.

      Friday, April 13, 2012 - Day 3

      • Congratulations to the choir for their excellent performance on Wednesday this week, as well as to the various students who have performed their solos, duets, trios and quartets yesterday. You did a wonderful job and should be very proud of your performances!

      • Good luck to the badminton team!  They will be competing for the Bison Cup in Ardrossan this Saturday!

      • Good luck to the soloists, Mr. McNamara’s class, the jazz band, grade 6 band and the junior high band performing today.

      • The students performing this morning are asked to come to the music room at 8:30, right after announcements.
      • All band members – grade 6, 7, & 8, will be leaving the school to head to the festival by 12 noon. Because of this, teachers are asked to allow students to eat their lunch about 11:30.
      • The grade 6 students will be called down to the music room at 11:50 to load their instruments, so please be ready by then.

      Thursday, April 12, 2012 - Day 2

      • Anyone interested in running the Ring Road, please meet in the front foyer after school ready to run.

      • Badminton practice for all tournament players after school today.

      • The BHA students will meet at Mr. Slade’s boot room at 1:00pm today before heading to the arena.

      • If you would rather play chess or guitar, both will be happening after school today. Chess in room 103? And guitar in room 119.

      • All choir members and all band members are reminded to hand in their Leduc Music Festival permission forms and payment to Mrs. Baron before their performances this week. If you have lost your form or don’t know where it is, please see Mrs. Baron or the office for a new one.


      • Percussion and Brass solos will be performing this morning. We will be leaving right after the morning announcements, so meet in the music room after the announcements are over.

      • Students performing this afternoon are asked to bring their lunch to the music room on today at 12 and eat there, as you will be leaving by 12:15 or so.

      • All band members are reminded to wear black and white for the festival performance tomorrow afternoon!!

      • Reminder to students riding their bikes to school, please be cautious and remember to wear your helmet.

      • Reminder that the home ec room will be open tonight and tomorrow night for students to finish module 3 projects.

      • There will be a badminton practice for all team members today at noon.

      • All choir members and all band members are reminded to hand in their Leduc Music Festival permission forms and payment to Mrs. Baron before their performances this week. If you have lost your form or don’t know where it is, please see Mrs. Baron or the office for a new one.

      • All Grade 6 band members are asked to come to the music room for a combined practice during period 2 TODAY.

      • Because the choir is leaving for the festival before the lunch hour, teachers are asked to allow their choir members to eat at 11:30 a.m. today. Please dismiss your choir students to meet Mrs. Baron at the front of the school by 11:55.

      • Congratulations to the Elementary track Team who participated in the Klondike Relays last night at the Butterdome.  They ran fantastic races and really gave it their best.  Well done!
