December Theory and Practice is due today.
Due to the low wind chill, the elementary Rabbit Hill field trip has been cancelled.
Jr. High students are at WEM Waterpark for the day.
Rabbit Hill ski club will start in January, listen to announcements for more information.
Marmot Basin ski trip for Jr. high students will go on sale in January.
The Speech Arts competition will take place in April 2013, 39 students have registered.
Have a safe and restful Holiday Season! Classes resume Monday, January 7th.

Leadership students will be coming around to homerooms during announcements to hand out candygrams! Have a great Christmas Theme Day!  Thank you Leadership students for organizing the candygrams and our Christmas Theme day.
Mr. Mistol will be picking up the badminton racquets today.  If there are any last minute orders, please see him before the end of the day.
District boys basketball practice is at noon today.
We have 39 (!!!) students registered for the Speech Arts competition to take place in April 2013. Students selected their poems on Tuesday and Wednesday. Copies of poems have been distributed to the homeroom teachers. If you did not get your copy, please check with your teacher.
Tomorrow our Jr. High students are going to the West Edmonton Mall Water Park and the Elementary students will be going skiing at Rabbit Hill, weather permitting.  The decision to go or not go to Rabbit Hill will be made in the morning and will be dependent on the temperature and wind chill

Last call for students who are interested in participating in Speech Arts (April 8th to April 15th).You must hand in your completed and signed parent permission forms along with a cheque for the payment today to Mme Marshall’s classroom (room 116).
All students should have selected a poem by the end of lunch hour today – meet in Mme Marshall’s classroom at 12:10 for elementary, 12:30 for junior high today.
Christmas Theme Day is tomorrow! Remember to wear your best Christmas hat, socks, sweater or anything that’s red or green!

The used book fair raised over $700!!!  This was a win-win for all involved.  The Leduc Food Bank and The students at J.E. Lapointe School .  All Students will be given an opportunity to choose a free book from the used book fair today, your teacher will take you through sometime today.  Happy reading!

This year’s Speech Arts competition to be held April 8th – April 15th, 2013. Students who are interested in participating can pick up a parent permission form from Mme Marshall’s classroom (room 116). Permission forms MUST be returned no later tomorrow Wednesday, December 19th – no exceptions.
Those students who have handed in their forms should come to Mme Marshall’s class to choose a poem during lunch hour (12:10 – elementary; 12:30 – junior high) in Room 116.
Last chance to buy your Candygrams will be today at lunch by room 101!  They will be handed out on Thursday.
Christmas Theme Day is Thursday!  Wear your most festive Christmas Tops, hats, socks etc.
Reminder to district VOLLEYBALL girls and boys, your game begins at 12:15 today. Ice cream to follow.

Band and choir members are reminded of their concert tonight at 7 pm. Please arrive at the school by 6:30pm dressed in black, white, red or green. Choir members go to the gym when they arrive. Grade 8 band uses the Tech Ed room, Grade 7 Band uses the music room, Band 6ADE uses Ms. Fedor’s room and Band 6BCF uses Mr. Bohun’s room for instrument setup.
There will not be noon hour practices for the remainder of the week. Choir and jazz band will continue after the Christmas break.

Today is Milk Monday. Teachers are asked to please send a runner to pick up their classroom milk at the beginning of their lunch times. Teachers and students are also reminded to return all the empty milk cartons to the yellow bin before bringing the bin back to the pickup area. These cartons do not go into the green classroom recycle bin, but back into the yellow bin please!
Band and choir members are reminded of their concert tomorrow night at 7pm. Concert dress is black, green, red or white and students are to arrive at the school by 6:30 pm. Band members head to their designated classroom and choir members head to the choir risers in the gym.

District boys basketball try-outs are today at noon!  Please see the list outside of the gym to see if you have been invited back to try out.  Bring your lunches to the gym.
Mini girls basketball team will tentatively have a practice tomorrow after school from 3:15 until 4:30.  This will be confirmed in tomorrow’s morning announcements.
District Girls VOLLEYBALL team will have a brief meeting at morning break in the front foyer.
Mme Stewart’s period 7 phys ed class we will be at the BRAC today.
The Leadership group will once again be selling candygrams for 25 cents at 12:10 by room 101

The only noon hour practice next week will be a COMBINED choir practice on Monday. Choir members are asked to write this in their agendas as this is the final practice before the concert on Tuesday night.  Once again, there will be a COMBINED practice on Monday for ALL choir members in Grades 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 as a final preparation for the concert on Tuesday, Dec. 18th.

Tonight at 6pm and 7:15pm, our Grade 4 & 5 classes will be presenting their Christmas musical. Good luck to all the students and Mr. McNamara who will be performing. Students are reminded to be back at the school by 5:45 pm to head to their homeroom classes. Please remember to bring a snack and water bottle for in between your performances. 
Grade 4 & 5 Teachers are reminded of our final dress rehearsal today after 1st recess. Please bring your students to the gym for the start of period 4.

We are pleased to have Miss MacAulay with us as she is replacing Mrs. Ferchau for the next month or so.  Please welcome Miss MacAulay to our school! 
IMPORTANT! Grade 4 and 5 classes, please come to the gym for our Christmas concert rehearsal after these announcements. Rehearsal will be during periods 1&2.
Premier boys basketball tryouts will conclude at 12:10 today.  Be there and ready to go ASAP.
Leadership students please meet in Miss Fedor’s room at 12:10 to set up for Candygram sales, which start today at lunch! J
Code Club is today after school. We will meet in the library.

Spelling Bee semi-finals today for grade 8 classroom finalists. Please bring your lunch and meet in Miss Girard’s room at 12:10.
All grade 4 classes except 4D are visiting the Edmonton Waste Management Centre today.  4D will visit tomorrow.
Just a reminder that Sparks is finished for the month of December and will resume in January.

If any Whistler band members have a TREASURE CHEST item to donate in their locker, please bring it to the music room by the end of the day today please.
There are extra white and chocolate milk for sale from Mrs. Baron. If you would like to buy one, they are $1.50 for a small and $2.50 for a large.

If you were absent yesterday and had an order you can also pick up today.
Term 2 Leadership students are in the works of planning a FABULOUS Christmas Theme Day for Thursday, December 20th where everyone is encouraged to wear Christmas hats, socks, sweaters or anything red or green! Candygrams will also go on sale this Wed. in room 101 for 50 cents each.

VERY IMPORTANT BHA ANNOUNCEMENT! The upstairs. Elementary group needs to meet in front of the arena at 12:30pm today to board the bus to the LRC in Leduc.  You will need your gym change and a pair of running shoes.
